Three Products Recognized in Appliance DESIGN Magazine's 21st Annual Competition
SCHILLER PARK, Ill., (May 22, 2008) – Life Fitness, the world’s leading manufacturer of exercise equipment, received three awards in appliance DESIGN magazine’s 21st annual Excellence in Design Competition. Products from the company’s high-tech Elevation™ Series, as well as a new elliptical cross-trainer for the home were recognized for their innovative design.

Taking home gold, the X7 Elliptical Cross-Trainer designed by Life Fitness and Cesaroni Design received top honors in the outdoor/leisure appliance category. The home equipment features on-the-fly electronic stride adjustments, intuitive controls and a modern design.
The newly created Elevation Series also was recognized with silver awards for the 95T Treadmill and 95X Cross-Trainer. These innovative commercial machines deliver an inspired lineup of features to engage both body and mind. With the Elevation Series, sleek industrial design blends with state-of-the-art features such as integrated LCD touch screens, iPod® compatibility, USB connectivity and a Virtual Trainer.
“The purpose of appliance DESIGN’s annual design competition is to honor those designers who have excelled in meeting the modern challenge of harmoniously melding technology and industrial design,” said Richard Babyak, editor of appliance DESIGN magazine.
An independent panel of three industrial design experts was responsible for judging of the entries. Evaluation of the entries was based on four criteria: appearance, human factors, innovation and technical merits.
